I am a recently retired doctor (consultant physician and geriatrician) with a passing interest in politics. Although right of centre my views are much more nuanced than the current Labour, Liberal, Conservative labels allow and I am always happy to be persuaded by rational argument to change my views. I cannot understand those who hold fixed political or religious beliefs. I believe luck is the main reason for inequality and that wealth distribution is entirely fair if done in a way that it doesn’t inhibit wealth creation. I believe in social housing and I think Local Authorities should have the power to raise funds on the bond market to invest in council properties where people can live long term, and where, if their circumstances improve sufficiently, they would pay market rents. The abuse and vilification of the far left against anyone right of centre makes me sad. I dislike virtue signallers, hypocrites and those who believe that hurting the rich is a worthy goal in itself.
